Youtube, Bandai and Toei gave us their best shot. And it wasn’t enough.
Our Youtube channel, almost exactly five years to the day that we launched it, was taken down by Youtube today due to their copyright policy. I won’t bore you with the details, but the short of it is this: Bandai’s bots saw Wing footage and told Youtube’s bots to take it all down. Copyright strikes were put on our channel, Bandai never returned any of our attempts to contact them, Youtube failed to help us either, and now here we are.
This is why we made this site: to host our abridged content whether they like it or not. While we don’t have the resources to fight an international corporation in court, we’re confident that our work is protected under the Fair Use doctrine, 17 U.S. Code ยง 107, as well as legal precedent. Even if Youtube would rather not acknowledge that.
So what now? Well. All abridged content will be hosted here on OPMeat.com for the foreseeable future. All other content we make will be available on our new channel, which you can subscribe to here. Work on both Ep.10 of MSAGW and Ep.2 of Goku Time will continue while our team works on new, interesting content that won’t be followed by the specter of copyright complaints. (Hopefully. Youtube’s policies aren’t friendly to content creators at all.) We’re excited to show these to you when they’re ready!
Thank you for sticking with us during a tumultuous time.
Now we’re gonna punch back.
